MEET THE COACHES

MATTHEW QUERCIA

Co-Founder and Coach

Teams: Sioux Falls Stampede USHL, Boston University, Michigan Tech, Wheeling Nailers/WBS Penguins.

Matthew Quercia, coach, and co-founder of Chew Dawg Hockey Academy, 

is a professional hockey player for the ECHL as a member of the Wheeling Nailers. He was born and raised in Massachusetts, so he is no stranger to the New England hockey scene, starting at a young age, from club teams to college teams—he played at Boston University for three years and finished his career at Michigan Tech. Having coached many junior teams, he’s passionate about teaching young players to play the game he knows so well and the life lessons that come with it. When he’s not playing hockey, he enjoys playing golf.

THOMAS MANTY

Coach

Teams: Brown University

Coach Manty was with us for year one and he’s back again! Thomas played at Philips Andover Academy and for the Aberdeen Wings before his college career began ay Brown University where he currently plays. He’s excited to be back for year two sharing his best coaching tips!​

MARC GATCOMB

Teams: New York Islanders, Kalamazoo Wings ECHL, Abbotsford Canucks AHL

Marc Gatcomb is a professional ice hockey player for the New York Islanders and former player for the Abbotsford Canucks (ECHL). His talent led to his recruitment by the University of Connecticut, where he played for the UConn Huskies. After college, Marc transitioned to professional hockey, joining the ECHL playing for the Kalamazoo Wings and then the AHL for the Abbotsford Canucks. He's is excited to join CDHA for the 2024 clinic!

andy jones

Team: Bentley Falcons,

Andy Jones, head coach of the Bentley Falcons, is an experienced hockey coach with a strong track record of developing players and building competitive programs. He spent over a decade as an assistant coach at top programs like UMass Lowell and Clarkson, focusing on defense and special teams. Since taking over Bentley in 2023, he has quickly made an impact, leading the team to an Atlantic Hockey America championship in 2025.

jon hutcheon

Team: St. Louis Blues

Jon spent 5 years with the St. Louis Blues as a skills coach every summer during their Development Camp and worked with 14 of their players on the 2019 Stanley Cup Championship Blues. Jon won two USA Hockey 18U National Championships with the Neponset Valley River Rats and South Kent Selects Academy. Jon had a successful hockey career that included four years playing professionally before transitioning into coaching.

jack parker

Team: Boston University Terriers

Jack Parker led Boston University for 40 seasons (1973–2013), winning 897 games, three NCAA championships (1978, 1995, 2009), and 21 Beanpot titles. A 2025 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, he developed dozens of NHL players and Olympians, retiring with the most wins at a single school.
